At Balanced Nutrition and Wellness, we take a non-diet approach to care. A non-diet approach in health and wellness, also known as intuitive eating or anti-diet approach, is a philosophy that encourages individuals to have a healthy and balanced relationship with food and their bodies, without adhering to strict diets or focusing on weight loss.Instead of emphasizing calorie counting, restriction, or weight control, the non-diet approach promotes body acceptance, intuitive eating, and self-care. It encourages individuals to listen to their own internal cues of hunger and fullness, eat a variety of foods without judgment, and prioritize their overall well-being rather than focusing solely on body size or weight.

The non-diet approach focuses on developing a positive mindset towards food and body image, promoting self-compassion and self-care practices. It recognizes that our bodies have natural abilities to regulate hunger and fullness, and encourages individuals to trust their bodies and embrace a flexible and balanced approach to eating.This approach also recognizes that health is multidimensional and incorporates factors beyond food and exercise, including mental and emotional well-being, relationships, sleep, stress management, and other aspects of life that can impact overall health.

Overall, the non-diet approach in health and wellness promotes a holistic and sustainable approach to well-being that prioritizes self-kindness, body acceptance, and a healthy relationship with food and physical activity.

As a dedicated and compassionate healthcare professional with a strong background in nutrition and wellness, I am committed to helping individuals improve their relationship with food and body while achieving their food and nutrition goals. With over 7 years of experience in the field, I have acquired extensive knowledge in assessing, planning, and implementing nutrition care plans for a diverse population. My educational background includes earning a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Western Michigan University in 2015. Thereafter, I completed a 1200 hour intensive dietetic internship while earning my Master of Science in Clinical Dietetics from Grand Valley State University in 2017. After passing the Dietetic Registration Exam, I began my first professional job as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist for an outpatient private practice specializing in the treatment of eating disorders. I had the opportunity to develop my own private practice thereafter and have been growing my business ever since. Since then, I have gained experience in a variety of clinical and community nutrition settings while working with a diverse population. I am driven by the belief that each individual deserves to live a life free of distress, guilt, and shame around food and body image. Adequate and gentle nutrition are fundamental to preventing and managing chronic conditions and  illness and I am committed to helping individuals discover what that means to them. Known for excellent communication skills, I educate and empower clients to make informed decisions about their nutrition, fostering long-term health and well-being. Whether conducting one-on-one consultations, leading workshops, or developing customized meal plans,  I tailor my approach to meet the unique needs of each individual. Through my experience, I strive to make a positive impact on the lives of others, fostering a healthier and happier community.
